In the 10th minute of the match Lino Eyague sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vladimiro Rocendo skillfully saved the ball. El Progreso de Echu's Rosendo Harri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dante Cuartio in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Guillermo Lluis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vladimiro Rocendo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 17thth minute of the game Dante Cuartio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but El Progreso de Echu's Rosendo Harri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luciano Servando made in the 19th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Guillermo Lluis immediately put the ball in play. Vladimiro Rocendo came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by El Progreso de Echu's Lino Eyague. But to his dismay, Lino Eyague quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lino Eyague got free with Vladimiro Rocendo in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. El Progreso de Echu were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Tegua's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lino Eyague took the corner. Guillermo Lluis was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. A collision led to El Progreso de Echu getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Conrado Aimar hit a great ball. Rosendo Harri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Salas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the El Progreso de Echu defense, Marcelo Salas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rosendo Harri. The El Progreso de Echu fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rosendo Harri should have stopped the shot. El Progreso de Echu's Rosendo Harri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dante Cuartio in the 48th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lino Eyague stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes in the game Vinicio Leobardo did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Robustiano Edwardo. Lino Eyague sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lino Eyague blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vladimiro Rocendo having to make a save. A collision led to Tegua getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Sérgio Correia hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dante Cuartio in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rosendo Harri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Dante Cuartio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the match, Tegua's Dante Cuartio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rosendo Harri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mauro Abreu kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Lino Eyague received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Vladimiro Rocendo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Dante Cuartio sped through El Progreso de Echu's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rosendo Harri. If Guillermo Lluis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tegua's Dante Cuartio was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 94th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Tegua's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
