The audience thought a goal was coming when Ramon Aragones got free with Gonzalo Emenon in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ramon Aragones received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Gonzalo Emenon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Fredriksson getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Saturnino Guib hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute, Lisandro Abecia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 41st match minute, Fredriksson was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolando Cedro to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Rafael Maura from long distance, 42 minutes into the match, got Gonzalo Emenon's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ramon Aragones stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Niceto Panfilo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ramon Aragones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Niceto Panfilo during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 58th match minute, Fredriksson was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niceto Panfilo to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute, Saturnino Guib hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 62 played minutes Club Atletico River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Ramon Aragones. A collision led to Club Atletico River Plate getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Octavio Rudolfo hit a great ball. Fredriksson's Maximiliano Iaki managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Omar Chinto in the 80 minute of the game. After 82 played minutes, Fredriksson's Rolando Cedro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Osvaldo Cucao came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fredriksson reached it. Osvaldo Cucao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niceto Panfilo in the 83rd minute of play. Ramon Aragones scored 1-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gonzalo Emenon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Niceto Panfilo was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 90 minutes had been played. The supporters of Club Atletico River Plate booed when Fredriksson was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niceto Panfilo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramon Aragones struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Gonzalo Emenon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atletico River Plate. 95 minutes into the match, Fredriksson's goal looked a bit too open when Ramon Aragones came free, but Gonzalo Emenon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fredriksson's Gonzalo Emenon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Abecia in the 96th minute of play.
