Zarate es CADU's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armando Sugar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ciriaco Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edelmiro Feliz's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. The audience was convinced that Edelmiro Feliz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ciriaco Abeijon was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. With an all-out effort, Club Deportivo Sánchez's Amancio Saturnin threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Geronimo Gregory, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
