The referee ignored Urundel's protests and gave Fabricio Leizarraga a yellow card for diving instead. Fabricio Leizarraga hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Guto Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Sein in the 10th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, Urundel's Roque Fraco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guto Taffarel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 16 minutes into the match, Urundel's goal looked a bit too open when Adolfo Cordera came free, but Mariano Eguerdi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Urundel's zone, Adolfo Cordera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mariano Eguerdi came out of the goal and Adolfo Cordera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mariano Eguerdi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlton Fowler in the 20th minute of play. Ramiro Ekialde scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Guto Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute Ramiro Ekialde shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guto Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, charatas's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Ekialde came free, but Guto Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guto Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramiro Ekialde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roque Fraco took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Guto Taffarel. Guto Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 44 minutes of play, Urundel's Roque Fraco made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guto Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ramiro Ekialde to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Adolfo Cordera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Eguerdi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Urundel's Fausto Transito got a free kick in the 81st minute. The audience was convinced that Carlton Fowler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mariano Eguerdi was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Alonzo Ralondo hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlton Fowler in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mariano Eguerdi saved Urundel from getting behind. Mariano Eguerdi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Cordera in the 88th minute of play. Guto Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabriel Sein in the 91st minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Urundel had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
