The audience thought a goal was coming when Nunez Patrido got free with Matias Erdiano in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Aritza's late challenge caught a Huya FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julio Aritza helped the player get up and apologised. Oscar Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredo Erramu, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Timoteo Paulin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Matias Erdiano. That made the score 1-0 in the 19 minute of play. Gamay FC were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after Huya FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cornelio Bikendi took the corner. If Nunez Patrido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zeledon Etor got his second yellow card in the match during the 34th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. When Prospero Federigo fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Huya FC's protests and gave Prospero Federigo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gamay FC booed when Huya FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Prospero Federigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the game, Pedro Gaizko was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gamay FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Huya FC the free kick. Pedro Gaizko kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Timoteo Paulin might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matias Erdiano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timoteo Paulin ran back to his position shaking his head. Timoteo Paulin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Matias Erdiano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Huya FC's Timoteo Paulin got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Gamay FC's Matias Erdiano got control of the ball when Nunez Patrido tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nunez Patrido was the one to do the kick off. Matias Erdiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nunez Patrido, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Matias Erdiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nunez Patrido in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th match minute, Gamay FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Americo Herauso to maneuver through the defense. Matias Erdiano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nunez Patrido went, in the 63rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Nunez Patrido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 69 minutes into the game, Nunez Patrido cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Matias Erdiano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 73rd minute, Nunez Patrido got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gamay FC's Matias Erdiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timoteo Paulin in the 74th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nunez Patrido in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matias Erdiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 87 minutes into the match, Huya FC's goalkeeper Oscar Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cornelio Bikendi. Gamay FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
