Plátanos's Leonides Benet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Americo Maiorga in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Desiderio Tristan notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Plátanos's Leonides Benet. Leonides Benet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th minute, Desiderio Tristan made a precise shot to the right of Leonides Benet. Plátanos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Plátanos's Leonides Benet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Quinten in the 25th minute of play. With his leg Gavino Frederico managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Plátanos's Ramiro Aurken fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 28thth minute of the game Ramiro Aurken who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gil's Gavino Frederico was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gil's Gavino Frederico proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Gil from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute, Urbano Blai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Ramiro Aurken managed to get in a good position for a shot. Plátanos's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramiro Aurken was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gavino Frederico breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gavino Frederico showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro Aurken in the 36th minute of the match. After 37th play minutes Ramiro Aurken shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Gavino Frederico and just under the crossbar into goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Plátanos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gil:s goal. Gavino Frederico made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conrado Jaunti in the 46th minute. In the 49th minute Danilo Quinten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonides Benet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Gil were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Desiderio Tristan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Danilo Quinten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Leonides Benet made a huge save. In the 56th minute Americo Maiorga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonides Benet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Danilo Quinten got free with Leonides Benet in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Conrado Jaunti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 minutes, Americo Maiorga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gil and the Plátanos players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Plátanos booed when Gil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Americo Maiorga didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gavino Frederico showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramiro Aurken in the 66th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Gil's Eliseo Petri got a free kick in the 66th minute. When Ramiro Aurken came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Plátanos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ramiro Aurken couldn't finish the play. Ramiro Aurken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavino Frederico having to interfere. A very nice done corner allowed Desiderio Tristan to score against Leonides Benet in Plátanos's goal. 1-4 after 80 minutes. In the 83rd minute, Gil's Americo Maiorga dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. After 88 minutes, Conrado Jaunti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Plátanos and the Gil players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leonides Benet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Desiderio Tristan in the 89th minute of play. Leonides Benet stood somewhat misplaced when Desiderio Tristan came free in front of goal and shot 1-6 to the left of him in the 91 minute. In the 96th minute Desiderio Tristan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonides Benet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gil eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
