The Argentinos Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oscar Urtzi should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquilino Joseph in the 17th minute of play forced Saint Etienne FC's goalkeeper Claudio Normando to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Argentinos Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Ticho to maneuver through the defense. Vladimiro Oriche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oscar Urtzi having to interfere. Maximino Errapel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Oscar Urtzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximino Errapel, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Argentinos Juniors's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Maximino Errapel was slow to take the kick. During this time Saint Etienne FC's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Maximino Errapel got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Oscar Urtzi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Saint Etienne FC booed when Argentinos Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octavio Urtsin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maximino Errapel scored 0-3 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar Urtzi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Maximino Errapel took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oscar Urtzi. Oscar Urtzi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. The Argentinos Juniors players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Saint Etienne FC were winning 0-4.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tolek Wojno to make the kick off. Emanuel Gigliotti scored 0-5 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar Urtzi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Emanuel Gigliotti could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Oscar Urtzi made a huge save. Maximino Errapel kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 64thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Argentinos Juniors's keeper Oscar Urtzi was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Oscar Urtzi came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Saint Etienne FC's Emanuel Gigliotti. But to his dismay, Emanuel Gigliotti quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. After a rather tough play, Argentinos Juniors's Aquilino Joseph got a free kick in the 79th minute. Saint Etienne FC made a substitution. Flavio Valery replaced Angelo Enaut. When Tolek Wojno came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Saint Etienne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tolek Wojno couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute, Maximino Errapel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Saint Etienne FC booed when Argentinos Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Onbera didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Urtzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tolek Wojno in the 95th minute of play. When the match was over Saint Etienne FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Argentinos Juniors throughout the match.
