Hector Gotzon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Segundo Cugat made a huge save. In the 18th minute Joaquin Chap shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Montrel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Hector Gotzon came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the EVERTON de CHILE fans jumped to their feet. With an all-out effort, EVERTON de CHILE's Segundo Cugat threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gualterio Perpinya, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Segundo Cugat came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by EVERTON de CHILE's Hector Gotzon.
