The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, VELEZ's Eloy Mon got control of the ball when Diego Frans tried to sneak it across the goal line. 7 minutes into the game, VELEZ's Dionisio Beliran nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efrain Corderun in the 14th minute of play forced Arteaga FC's goalkeeper Vicente Martxelin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute of the match, Modesto Elia tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Eloy Mon saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Guaberto Bortzaioriz fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored VELEZ's protests and gave Guaberto Bortzaioriz a yellow card for diving instead. Guaberto Bortzaioriz kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Eloy Mon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Ciceron, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efrain Corderun in the 24th minute of play forced Arteaga FC's goalkeeper Vicente Martxelin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Efrain Corderun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Vicente Martxelin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute Oscar Oihenarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eloy Mon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Martxelin came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by VELEZ's Antonio Rik. But to his dismay, Antonio Rik quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Vicente Ciceron received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eloy Mon came out and tried to block the shot, but Vicente Ciceron slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 40th minute. In the 45th minute Efrain Corderun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Martxelin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. VELEZ's attack was well implemented in the 46th minute, but when Efrain Corderun was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of VELEZ booed when Arteaga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Harkaitz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 54th minute, VELEZ's Efrain Corderun ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vicente Martxelin. A collision led to Arteaga FC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Aquiles Oinaz hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Arteaga FC's zone, Rafael Etxekopar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente Martxelin came out of the goal and Rafael Etxekopar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eloy Mon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Modesto Elia in the 70th minute of the match. Efrain Corderun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Vicente Martxelin made a huge save. The supporters of VELEZ booed when Arteaga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Ciceron didn't get a good kick on the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Arteaga FC's goalkeeper Vicente Martxelin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antonio Rik. Vicente Martxelin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Efrain Corderun went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. VELEZ's attentive Delmiro Viviano managed to snatch the ball when Patricio Harkaitz made a throw-in in the 91st minute of the game. 92 minutes into the game, Hugo Mendiko threw the ball into play from the sideline. VELEZ's Delmiro Viviano quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
