Benito Abalos acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 13th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ceferino Quirce. In the 16th minute, Luis Rivero left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chuquis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Benito Abalos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ceferino Quirce in the 20th minute of play. After 25 minutes, Cornelio Rosario mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chuquis and the PoRtUgAl hOcKeY players grew even worse after the yellow card. Baldomiro Cristofol's late challenge caught a PoRtUgAl hOcKeY's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Primitivo Enetz to make the kick off. The supporters of Chuquis booed when PoRtUgAl hOcKeY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ceferino Quirce didn't get a good kick on the ball. PoRtUgAl hOcKeY's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ceferino Quirce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Primitivo Enetz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
