With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabricio Sauveur in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Epifanio Abancens saved Club Atlético Racing Club from getting behind. In the 26th match minute, Club Atlético Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cafu Borges to maneuver through the defense. When Fabricio Sauveur came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Atlético San Martín fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabricio Sauveur couldn't finish the play. Orlando Lamberto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jacinto Ariztimuño in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Epifanio Abancens prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Epifanio Abancens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabricio Sauveur in the 37th minute of the match. Rigoberto Jerano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uriel Etxatxu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the game, Uriel Etxatxu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Rigoberto Jerano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
