The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Aldo Simancas came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the El Imperio del Cuervo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aldo Simancas couldn't finish the play. Nemesio Gurutz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emanuel Hjelm's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. El Imperio del Cuervo were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Platense's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Zachariasz Frankowski took the corner. Emanuel Hjelm made a great header on El Imperio del Cuervo's corner, it was just that Platense's Nemesio Gurutz managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zachariasz Frankowski in the 16th minute of play forced Platense's goalkeeper Nemesio Gurutz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But to his dismay, Silvano Servando quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nikos Papadamou in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Remigio Petrigai saved El Imperio del Cuervo from getting behind. Zachariasz Frankowski might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nemesio Gurutz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zachariasz Frankowski ran back to his position shaking his head. Zachariasz Frankowski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nemesio Gurutz having to make a save. When Platense's Nikos Papadamou in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
