Gerardo Celipe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Remicio in the 7th minute of the match. After having played for 10 minutes, Israel Perfecto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Leopardi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Israel Perfecto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th match minute, Leopardi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mesut Özil to maneuver through the defense. Ayacucho's Nemesio Urdin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Ayacucho from getting a goal against them. Miguel Remicio took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gerardo Celipe. Gerardo Celipe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 23rd match minute, Leopardi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Precioso to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute of the match Mauricio Garoa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gerardo Celipe showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 25 minutes, Israel Perfecto put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nemesio Urdin. An unexpectedly hard shot by Israel Perfecto in the 28th minute of play forced Ayacucho's goalkeeper Nemesio Urdin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ayacucho's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Israel Perfecto was slow to take the kick. During this time Leopardi's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ayacucho's goalie and right to Antoni Borkowski. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ayacucho's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The Leopardi fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when Leopardi's Israel Perfecto looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gerardo Celipe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerardo Maria in the 37th minute of the match. Gerardo Celipe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gerardo Maria went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. 42 minutes into the game, one of Leopardi:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Gerardo Celipe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerardo Salvino in the 46th minute of play. Leopardi's Gerardo Celipe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amado Onbera in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Israel Perfecto was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Ged Laverick got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerardo Maria hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Leopardi's Israel Perfecto got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
