The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2ndth minute of the game Israel Perfecto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bahia Sporting Club's Osoitz Rescuro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leopardi were awarded a corner in the 3th minute after Bahia Sporting Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Israel Perfecto took the corner. Pierce Cambridge's late challenge caught a Bahia Sporting Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pierce Cambridge helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Guillem in the 7th minute of play forced Leopardi's goalkeeper Gerardo Celipe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Israel Perfecto put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Osoitz Rescuro. Bahia Sporting Club's Osoitz Rescuro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ged Laverick in the 12th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Israel Perfecto in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Osoitz Rescuro saved Bahia Sporting Club from getting behind. In the 16th match minute, Leopardi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Precioso to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute, Bahia Sporting Club's Darell Beltre dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Israel Perfecto struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Osoitz Rescuro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leopardi. In the 38th minute Israel Perfecto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osoitz Rescuro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 played minutes Bahia Sporting Club got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Tebaldo. Rafael Ebardo charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafael Ebardo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the Bahia Sporting Club defense, Israel Perfecto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Osoitz Rescuro. The Bahia Sporting Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Osoitz Rescuro should have stopped the shot. Rafael Ebardo was shown his second yellow card after 46 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Bahia Sporting Club's Rafael Ebardo got a free kick in the 46th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Bahia Sporting Club's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Johnsson came free, but Osoitz Rescuro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Osoitz Rescuro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Israel Perfecto in the 52nd minute of the match. Eliseo Pirro charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eliseo Pirro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 55th minute, Eliseo Pirro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Bahia Sporting Club booed when Leopardi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antoni Borkowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Osoitz Rescuro came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Leopardi's Mesut Özil. But to his dismay, Mesut Özil quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Osoitz Rescuro made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Israel Perfecto sent off a good shot on target. Israel Perfecto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Osoitz Rescuro having to make a save. 68 minutes into the match, Israel Perfecto dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Osoitz Rescuro, 1-4. In the 71st minute, Israel Perfecto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Osoitz Rescuro was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-5. Bahia Sporting Club made a substitution. Alípio Caiado replaced Hugo Velasco. Bahia Sporting Club's Osoitz Rescuro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ged Laverick in the 77th minute of play. After 78 minutes, Israel Perfecto made it 1-6 with a short kick to the right side. Bahia Sporting Club's Osoitz Rescuro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Osoitz Rescuro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Israel Perfecto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Israel Perfecto in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Osoitz Rescuro saved Bahia Sporting Club from getting behind. In the 86th minute of the match Leopardi got a corner. Bahia Sporting Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Israel Perfecto ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 89th minute of the match, Ged Laverick got a very nice opportunity to score, but Osoitz Rescuro was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Osoitz Rescuro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Israel Perfecto in the 91st minute. Israel Perfecto received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Osoitz Rescuro came out and tried to block the shot, but Israel Perfecto slotted it home off the left post making it 1-7 in the 92nd minute.
