The referee ignored Altos's protests and gave Ildefonso Maties a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Altos's Ildefonso Maties got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute, Altos's Fermin Behe seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Fermin Behe the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Altos protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Fermin Behe had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee gave Pitt Steeler a penalty, 14 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Feliberto Bastiaro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Altos's Ulises Camerino. 0-2. When Arturo Cordarrell came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Pitt Steeler fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arturo Cordarrell couldn't finish the play. Ulises Camerino came out of the goal and Arturo Cordarrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
