In the 6th minute Claudio Charro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomáš Pollák saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 11 minutes into the game, Sixto Silban cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Delmar Gabon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Haroldo Aznar fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Atletico Policial's protests and gave Haroldo Aznar a yellow card for diving instead. A hard shot by Leo Santio from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Delmar Gabon's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 24 minutes into the game, San Martín's Primitivo Chiappe nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Delmar Gabon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. San Martín's Tomáš Pollák played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Charro in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Club Atletico Policial getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Haroldo Aznar hit a great ball. In the 31st minute, Claudio Charro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tomáš Pollák was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 34th minute, Claudio Charro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Leonides Rumaldo took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Delmar Gabon. Delmar Gabon dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Primitivo Chiappe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Delmar Gabon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Club Atletico Policial's Delmar Gabon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélio de Castro in the 42nd minute of play. If Nestor Beltxe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Delmar Gabon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélio de Castro in the 53rd minute of the match. If Leonides Rumaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ladislao Azevedo's late challenge caught a San Martín's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ladislao Azevedo helped the player get up and apologised. Delmar Gabon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Uriel Ubarna, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. After 59 minutes of play, San Martín's Uriel Ubarna made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Delmar Gabon was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélio de Castro in the 71st minute of play forced Club Atletico Policial's goalkeeper Delmar Gabon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Delmar Gabon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonides Rumaldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Delmar Gabon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélio de Castro in the 83rd minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. San Martín fully deserved thier win.
