Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) River Plate's Mikael Wiman started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of River Plate booed when Argentina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roque Maurino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfonso Mejias took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Joel Botello. Argentina's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 6 played minutes Argentina got a freekick which was hit by Roque Maurino. Joel Botello came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Jiang Zhan Cheng. But to his dismay, Jiang Zhan Cheng quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 16 minutes into the match, Fábio Quilempan notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Argentina's Joel Botello. Joel Botello was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 20 minutes of play, River Plate's Fábio Quilempan made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joel Botello was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cristo Gombal charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristo Gombal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cristo Gombal hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, Fábio Quilempan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The River Plate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Fábio Quilempan scored 0-6 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joel Botello, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ivan Ebardo's late challenge caught a Argentina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivan Ebardo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 31st minute, Ivan Ebardo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ezequiel Fidencio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eleuterio Liberto in the 34th minute of the match. If Danilo Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Botello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Mejias, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Argentina were furious when Pedro Bermudez was red carded, 40 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Pedro Bermudez hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Ezequiel Fidencio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jorge Honrio in the 43rd minute. After 46 minutes of play, River Plate's Jiang Zhan Cheng made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joel Botello was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half River Plate were leading 0-7. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Benedicto Maiorga to strike the kick off in the second half. Mikael Wiman might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Botello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mikael Wiman ran back to his position shaking his head. 55 minutes into the match, Mikael Wiman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joel Botello. Argentina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mikael Wiman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. If Eleuterio Liberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Danilo Romero made a precise shot to the right of Ezequiel Fidencio. River Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-8. Joel Botello made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fábio Quilempan in the 68th minute. Fábio Quilempan kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Fábio Quilempan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Joel Botello made a huge save. Joel Botello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Mejias, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Joel Botello was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fábio Quilempan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-11 in the 77 minute of play. Joel Botello made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mikael Wiman in the 80th minute. Argentina's Joel Botello proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Argentina from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as River Plate's Quintana Roo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joel Botello. That made the score 1-12 after 86 minutes of play. 89 minutes into the match, River Plate's Fábio Quilempan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joel Botello narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 91st minute, Alfonso Mejias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mikael Wiman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Botello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded River Plate left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Argentina.
