In the 3rd minute, Unión La Plata's Patricio Nofre ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Karl-Michael Öman. Karl-Michael Öman yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Boca Juniors's Karl-Michael Öman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Olayo in the 8th minute of play. The supporters of Unión La Plata booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Roldan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12thth minute of the game Hipolito Berart who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Unión La Plata's Octavio Jerold was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 14 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Gaspar Muno came free, but Karl-Michael Öman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salvador Gilesindo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Karl-Michael Öman firmly grabbed it by the left post. Boca Juniors's Hipolito Berart got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Octavio Jerold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emilio Roldan in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Narciso Haritzeder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boca Juniors's Emilio Roldan got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Haroldo Olayo made a precise shot to the right of Karl-Michael Öman. Boca Juniors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 33 minutes into the match, Unión La Plata's goal looked a bit too open when Hipolito Berart came free, but Octavio Jerold reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Karl-Michael Öman successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Karl-Michael Öman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Patricio Nofre in the 44th minute. 47 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Karl-Michael Öman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaspar Muno. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

A collision led to Unión La Plata getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Roberto Ezkerra hit a great ball. Everardo Cordarryl recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Unión La Plata were furious when Apolo Lleir was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 55 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Unión La Plata! In the 59th minute, Dante Efraim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Karl-Michael Öman came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Unión La Plata's Haroldo Olayo. But to his dismay, Haroldo Olayo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After a rather tough play, Unión La Plata's Roberto Ezkerra got a free kick in the 69th minute. After 76 played minutes Unión La Plata got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Muno. Boca Juniors's 李俊桦 was substituted for Emilio Roldan. After 77 played minutes Unión La Plata got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Muno. Octavio Jerold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hipolito Berart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Salvador Gilesindo came free, but Karl-Michael Öman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Unión La Plata were awarded a corner in the 85th minute after Boca Juniors's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Roberto Ezkerra took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Roberto Ezkerra got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Karl-Michael Öman quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by 李俊桦 in the 92nd minute of play forced Unión La Plata's goalkeeper Octavio Jerold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Unión La Plata's Octavio Jerold played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 李俊桦 in the 98th minute of play. Unión La Plata's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
