La Guardia Imperial's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Russ Barton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 沈潮夕 blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Juan Ibañez having to make a save. 27 minutes into the game, La Guardia Imperial's 沈潮夕 nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juan Ibañez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Bala Cañon's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arnulfo Napier firmly grabbed it by the left post. Arnulfo Napier didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hugo Noremberg went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Russ Barton hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Severino Gipuzkoa in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juan Ibañez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that 沈潮夕's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Ibañez was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

Arnulfo Napier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Russ Barton in the 52nd minute of play. Russ Barton scored 5-1 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnulfo Napier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee felt a red card was in order, 59 minutes into the game, when Octavio Rafe put in a rough tackle. The supporters of Picapiedras FC booed when La Guardia Imperial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octavio Rafe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antonio Goyo charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
