Tigre's defense didn't have a chance, in the 6th minute, when Astor Padro scored to the left of an out of position Gualterio Egoi, making the score, 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lucio Restu during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Lucio Restu hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Amerigo Di Mattia could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Gualterio Egoi however easily saved by the left post. Jorge Rafael could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Gualterio Egoi made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Astor Padro got free with Gualterio Egoi in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Severino Beltran scored 3-0 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gualterio Egoi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 47 minutes, Evaristo Tome mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tigre and the River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Tigre got a freekick which was hit by Evaristo Tome. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eustacio Nesor was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of River Plate booed when Tigre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustacio Nesor didn't get a good kick on the ball. River Plate's Benigno Rafe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save River Plate from getting a goal against them. When the match clock showed 59 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Amerigo Di Mattia sped through Tigre's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gualterio Egoi. Gualterio Egoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Astor Padro in the 63rd minute of play. Astor Padro took the ball and in the 65 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gualterio Egoi. Gualterio Egoi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. In the 69th minute, Jeronimo Salvator hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gualterio Egoi came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by River Plate's Amerigo Di Mattia. But to his dismay, Amerigo Di Mattia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. In the 75thth minute of the game Astor Padro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tigre's Gualterio Egoi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Astor Padro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Astor Padro in the 83rd minute of play forced Tigre's goalkeeper Gualterio Egoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84thth minute of the game Astor Padro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tigre's Gualterio Egoi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 94th minute Amerigo Di Mattia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gualterio Egoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 95 in the game by Eustacio Nesor from a close distance when the talented Benigno Rafe managed to make a qualified save. River Plate's players were relieved. River Plate's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
