Leon Ado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Jakes in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Felix Lucescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Argentinos Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Lucescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mario Evangelista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teobald Galagan in the 27th minute of play forced Barrio Ruta del Sol's goalkeeper Mario Evangelista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dionisio Santo to make the kick off. Ivan Cugat's late challenge caught a Argentinos Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivan Cugat helped the player get up and apologised. After 80 played minutes Barrio Ruta del Sol got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Cugat. Celedonio Bertran struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Mario Evangelista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Argentinos Juniors. Augusto Jakes charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Augusto Jakes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Argentinos Juniors getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Teobald Galagan hit a great ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Argentinos Juniors had played much better football throughout.
