After 2 played minutes FerroNaval got a freekick which was hit by Ciriaco Abarca. Elo Orris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eusebio Sal in the 6th minute of play. Elo Orris came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by FerroNaval's Eusebio Sal. But to his dismay, Eusebio Sal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Alesandro Del Piero recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Desiderio Boniel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio Chorache in the 20th minute of play forced CD ESPAÑOL's goalkeeper Elo Orris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FerroNaval booed when CD ESPAÑOL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gogo Ignazio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute of the match Fermin Enaut shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elo Orris showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Eusebio Sal struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Elo Orris didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FerroNaval. In the 36th minute, Eusebio Sal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elo Orris was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 39th minute, Carlitos Tevez made a precise shot to the right of Prospero Goiz. FerroNaval's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Prospero Goiz made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Alesandro Del Piero sent off a good shot on target. Eleuterio Eliazar was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 45 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlitos Tevez made a kick off. The CD ESPAÑOL fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when CD ESPAÑOL's Carlitos Tevez looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Gogo Ignazio hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Prospero Goiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alesandro Del Piero went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. In the 62nd minute, Alesandro Del Piero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The attack was good, but when Carlitos Tevez in the 63rd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After a defensive mix-up in FerroNaval's zone, Oscar Paul stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Prospero Goiz came out of the goal and Oscar Paul tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Prospero Goiz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlitos Tevez's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlitos Tevez in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Prospero Goiz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Carlitos Tevez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Prospero Goiz was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Prospero Goiz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oscar Paul went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-2 was the resulting score. Prospero Goiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlitos Tevez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alesandro Del Piero kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FerroNaval's goalkeeper Prospero Goiz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlitos Tevez in the 97th minute of play forced FerroNaval's goalkeeper Prospero Goiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
