After recieving a nice pass, River Plate's Nunez Fanuco tried to score from far away in the 3rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The supporters of River Plate booed when EL PEPO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denis Guerrero didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 6 minutes, Nunez Fanuco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nunez Fanuco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Celso Inge was slow to take the kick. During this time EL PEPO FC's players had a chance to rest. Celso Inge made a great header on EL PEPO FC's corner, it was just that River Plate's Fermin Mano managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Natalio Farias hit a great ball. Natalio Farias was shown his second yellow card after 35 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. River Plate's Matias Feliz got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauro Urko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in River Plate's zone, Celso Inge stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fermin Mano came out of the goal and Celso Inge tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. River Plate were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
