Spectators: 7443 (Terracing: 5583, Seating: 1712, VIP seats: 148) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Fernando Cavenaghi kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, FC PLAYA UNION's Fulgencio Estevon got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 14th minute Ezequiel Benet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Fernendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Fernendo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erubiel Bonadona in the 15th minute of the match. Dante Fernendo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernando Cavenaghi's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Fulgencio Estevon scored 1-0 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Augusto Batalla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 32nd minute, Venancio Rufio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dante Fernendo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erubiel Bonadona, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. When Dave Casale fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Diego Maradona's protests and gave Dave Casale a yellow card for diving instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fulgencio Estevon to make the kick off. FC PLAYA UNION's Dante Fernendo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ezequiel Benet in the 53rd minute of play. Dante Fernendo was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Fernando Cavenaghi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fernando Cavenaghi really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After having played for 65 minutes, Erubiel Bonadona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Diego Maradona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erubiel Bonadona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th play minute Fernando Cavenaghi came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Dante Fernendo. 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Everardo Galo in the 79th minute of play forced Diego Maradona's goalkeeper Augusto Batalla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to FC PLAYA UNION getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Adan Illan hit a great ball. Dante Fernendo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernando Cavenaghi in the 87th minute. 90 minutes into the match, FC PLAYA UNION's goalkeeper Dante Fernendo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernando Cavenaghi. Diego Maradona's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
