The referee ignored San Martìn's protests and gave Honorio Telesforo a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in San Martìn's zone, Freddy Pepillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mauricio Sabino came out of the goal and Freddy Pepillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mauricio Sabino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clóvis Monteiro in the 15th minute. A collision led to San Martìn getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Honorio Telesforo hit a great ball. In the 21st minute of the match Freddy Pepillo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mauricio Sabino showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. San Martìn's Mauricio Sabino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldo Ronaldo in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute, Lima AFC's Adolfo Salbatore ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mauricio Sabino. Mauricio Sabino yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. In the 29th minute Ronaldo Ronaldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauricio Sabino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mauricio Sabino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldo Ronaldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Grujica Pekaric's late challenge caught a Lima AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. With a left leg Cristian Sesuldo saved Lima AFC from getting behind. Mauricio Sabino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Ronaldo in the 58th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Yang Yu Hai managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Martìn's supporters rose to their feet, but Yang Yu Hai was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristian Sesuldo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clóvis Monteiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Mauricio Sabino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94thth minute of the game Ronaldo Ronaldo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Martìn's Mauricio Sabino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Lima AFC booed when San Martìn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Grujica Pekaric didn't get a good kick on the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Lima AFC fully deserved thier win.
