The audience thought a goal was coming when Adolfo Salbatore got free with Teodoro Peio in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomero Rodas in the 37th minute of play forced Lima AFC's goalkeeper Cristian Sesuldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético Nacional's Teodoro Peio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bonifacio Abecia in the 40th minute of play. Herminio Tino's late challenge caught a Atlético Nacional's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Herminio Tino helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st minute, Herminio Tino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marco Terciero during the 47th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lima AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 46th minute. Penalty! Atlético Nacional walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
