Mickael Wuyts made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bahía é Carnaval's goalkeeper Mickael Wuyts, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Faustino Maura during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Newell´s getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Faustino Maura hit a great ball. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacinto Rosio, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Tadeo Jakobe had several of the Bahía é Carnaval's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 38 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Mickael Wuyts as he didn't even see the shot coming. In the 42nd minute, Amancio Bilintx got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mickael Wuyts came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Newell´s's Amancio Bilintx. But to his dismay, Amancio Bilintx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The wind increased when Jacinto Rosio made the kick off in the second half. Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto Rosio in the 50th minute of play. In the 52nd minute of the match Bahía é Carnaval got a corner. Newell´s's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vinicio Florin ran over to the corner to take the kick. Vinicio Florin made a great header on Bahía é Carnaval's corner, it was just that Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan managed to reach the ball for a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Amancio Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newell´s's supporters rose to their feet, but Amancio Bilintx was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickael Wuyts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70thth minute of the game Amancio Bilintx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bahía é Carnaval's Mickael Wuyts was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Newell´s's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernan Crescencio in the 72nd minute. Mickael Wuyts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amancio Bilintx, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Mickael Wuyts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Faustino Maura in the 77th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Fernan Crescencio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mickael Wuyts was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Bahía é Carnaval made a substitution. Conrado Cambranes replaced Erubiel Gaitan. Bahía é Carnaval's Alonzo Delfino was substituted for Vinicio Florin. After 84 played minutes Bahía é Carnaval got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Cambranes. When Newell´s's Tadeo Jakobe in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bahía é Carnaval's goalie prevented a goal.
