In the 15thth minute of the game Heigo Luiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but La Zabaleta's Arturo Guib was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee ignored La Zabaleta's protests and gave Teodosio Lop a yellow card for diving instead. After 44 played minutes La Zabaleta got a freekick which was hit by Teodosio Lop. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Heigo Luiga was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute, Øyvind Rovik had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Amancio Ekain charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Albin Ånger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Ciriaco Macias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Teodosio Lop came free, but Ciriaco Macias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arturo Guib showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heigo Luiga in the 68th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's Cristo Basajaun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arturo Guib narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of C.A.Independiente booed when La Zabaleta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Micah Vesović didn't get a good kick on the ball.
