With an all-out effort, Países Bajos's Ovidio Sal threw himself towards the right post 2 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alvaro Ebardo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Angelo Ugutz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Iratxo in the 5th minute of play. In the 6th minute of the match, Alvaro Ebardo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ovidio Sal saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Angelo Ugutz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Iratxo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ovidio Sal didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 17th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Punta Alvear's goal looked a bit too open when Timos Kavourakis came free, but Ovidio Sal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Angelo Ugutz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermegildo Heriberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacinto Eleazar to make the kick off. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Punta Alvear's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dalmacio Tebaldo was slow to take the kick. During this time Países Bajos's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Timos Kavourakis got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ovidio Sal quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ryszard Adamski in the 54th minute of play forced Punta Alvear's goalkeeper Ovidio Sal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ovidio Sal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Camilo Artaldo in the 69th minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Dalmacio Tebaldo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ovidio Sal. Punta Alvear's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dalmacio Tebaldo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Angelo Ugutz made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Patricio Iratxo sent off a good shot on target. Jacinto Eleazar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Angelo Ugutz made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Punta Alvear's zone, Timos Kavourakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ovidio Sal came out of the goal and Timos Kavourakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Punta Alvear's Ovidio Sal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camilo Artaldo in the 92nd minute of play. Anakoz Balcells's late challenge caught a Punta Alvear's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anakoz Balcells helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Países Bajos getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Anakoz Balcells hit a great ball. Jacinto Eleazar took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 94th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Angelo Ugutz. Países Bajos's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Punta Alvear players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Países Bajos.
