The supporters of Independiente booed when Paunero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 84th minute Tadeo Ederono shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eddie Van Halen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Francesco Cilli got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Eddie Van Halen quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 89th minute, Tadeo Ederono made a precise shot to the right of Eddie Van Halen. Independiente's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Independiente players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Paunero.
