Jesus Atarratze showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Cordario, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 19 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goal looked a bit too open when Hanung Raturandang came free, but Teodosio Sergi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute of the match Velez Sarsfield got a corner. Comunicaciones's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Augusto Cordario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jesus Atarratze read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Augusto Cordario had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jesus Atarratze. Comunicaciones's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Augusto Cordario was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 35 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's Augusto Cordario sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jesus Atarratze narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for João Pedro Rosa to strike the kick off in the second half. Augusto Cordario could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Jesus Atarratze made a huge save. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Comunicaciones's goalkeeper Jesus Atarratze, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 59 minutes into the game, Romulo Oihan threw the ball into play from the sideline. Velez Sarsfield's Marcos Pacifico quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
