The attack was good, but when Des Myers in the 22nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 25th minute, Trey Woodward fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Richard Ellerby, passed just outside the right post. After a rather tough play, Eastham AFC's Ivor Boxall got a free kick in the 37th minute. Des Myers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute of the match, Trey Woodward got a very nice opportunity to score, but Richard Ellerby was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Eastham AFC's Stan Hedges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Des Myers in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Des Myers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Des Myers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Hedges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eastham AFC's Trey Woodward got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Richard Ellerby made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curtis Lynam in the 60th minute of play. After some careless play in the Eastham AFC defense, Richard Bradfield kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stan Hedges. The Eastham AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stan Hedges should have stopped the shot. After 70 minutes, Stevie Pringle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eastham AFC and the Mossley players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stevie Pringle hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. If Curtis Lynam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 played minutes Mossley got a freekick which was hit by Lance Sparkes. Richard Bradfield could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Stan Hedges made a huge save. If Curtis Lynam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Ellerby showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trey Woodward, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Des Myers in the 92nd minute of play forced Eastham AFC's goalkeeper Stan Hedges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Trey Woodward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Bradfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stan Hedges having to interfere. The Eastham AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Mossley's performance. The match ended with a win for Mossley.
