Seating: 1853, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dale Preston started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes, Les Johnson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SENEGAL VIP Fc and the Blackburn players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 3rd minute, Les Johnson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Scott Mallaby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Blackburn's Julian Leach threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dale Preston, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Blackburn booed when SENEGAL VIP Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stan Evans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Cheesman's shot from long distance in the 18th minute was not bad at all, but SENEGAL VIP Fc's Julian Leach knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Dale Preston sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joe Lynam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Page in the 22nd minute of play. When Julian Page came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the SENEGAL VIP Fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Page couldn't finish the play. In the 30th minute, Scott Mallaby made a precise shot to the right of Julian Leach. SENEGAL VIP Fc's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Leroy Thompson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Leroy Thompson came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the SENEGAL VIP Fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leroy Thompson couldn't finish the play. Blackburn's Joe Lynam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Page in the 41st minute of play. If Scott Mallaby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Scott Mallaby got free with Julian Leach in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leroy Thompson to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Scott Mallaby put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julian Leach. After 58 played minutes SENEGAL VIP Fc got a freekick which was hit by Leroy Thompson. After 61 minutes, Julian Page mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SENEGAL VIP Fc and the Blackburn players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Dale Preston's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julian Leach was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Scott Mallaby struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Julian Leach didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Blackburn. When Tommy Cheesman fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blackburn's protests and gave Tommy Cheesman a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SENEGAL VIP Fc booed when Blackburn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tommy Cheesman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dale Preston scored 4-0 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julian Leach, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Scott Mallaby came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Blackburn fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Scott Mallaby couldn't finish the play. Scott Mallaby scored 5-0 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julian Leach, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. SENEGAL VIP Fc's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
