To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Blair Greenfield in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joe Lynam saved Blackburn from getting behind. Blair Greenfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dale Preston was the one to do the kick off. Sean Burley might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joe Lynam. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sean Burley ran back to his position shaking his head. Blair Greenfield struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Joe Lynam didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hardwick United. Joe Lynam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blair Greenfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Sean Burley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hardwick United's supporters rose to their feet, but Sean Burley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joe Lynam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Hardwick United booed when Blackburn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bill Deaconsfield didn't get a good kick on the ball.
