Abraham Hawke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Damion Keane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute Louie Sutton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mattias Mayo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 20 minutes of play, Grantham's Deon Salt made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mattias Mayo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Grantham's Deon Salt got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mattias Mayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Louie Sutton, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Ash Wooding hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. If Louie Sutton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the game, Grantham's Deon Salt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mattias Mayo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Mattias Mayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Deon Salt in the 40th minute of play. Abraham Hawke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damion Keane made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Ash Wooding sent off a good shot on target. Deon Salt might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mattias Mayo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Deon Salt ran back to his position shaking his head. The Walter players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Grantham were winning 0-2.

Jack Garrett charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jack Garrett the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Walter's Abraham Hawke got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Walter's goalkeeper Mattias Mayo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Damion Keane came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Walter's Daryl Baker. But to his dismay, Daryl Baker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. After a rather tough play, Grantham's Louie Sutton got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Mattias Mayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Deon Salt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Louie Sutton struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Mattias Mayo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grantham. With a little luck, Walter's Mattias Mayo got control of the ball when Louie Sutton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Deon Salt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mattias Mayo having to interfere. With his leg Mattias Mayo managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Grantham's Louie Sutton fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 83 minutes, Stan Nethercot managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grantham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stan Nethercot was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daryl Baker in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Damion Keane prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daryl Baker struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Damion Keane didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walter.
