Krister Mánason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garðar Halldórsson in the 6th minute of play. Steinvarður Þorvaldsson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 9th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Garðar Halldórsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steinvarður Þorvaldsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grundaval's Steinvarður Þorvaldsson got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 21 played minutes Garðar Halldórsson rounded Gala Akranesi's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Krister Mánason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garðar Halldórsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Garðar Halldórsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Krister Mánason having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, Gala Akranesi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tumas Tómasson to maneuver through the defense. Krister Mánason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garðar Halldórsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Gala Akranesi's zone, Garðar Halldórsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Krister Mánason came out of the goal and Garðar Halldórsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Friðbert Dagsson hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Krister Mánason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garðar Halldórsson in the 47th minute of the match. In the 47th minute, Garðar Halldórsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grundaval fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Blængur Hansson's late challenge caught a Gala Akranesi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blængur Hansson helped the player get up and apologised. Blængur Hansson kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Ástvar Skaptason recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Garðar Halldórsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steinvarður Þorvaldsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Krister Mánason tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Garðar Halldórsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Krister Mánason read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Njáll Skaptason came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by Gala Akranesi's Ástvar Skaptason. But to his dismay, Ástvar Skaptason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Steinvarður Þorvaldsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Krister Mánason having to make a save. The audience was convinced that Steinvarður Þorvaldsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Krister Mánason was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. Eldur Ósvaldsson's late challenge caught a Gala Akranesi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eldur Ósvaldsson helped the player get up and apologised. Eldur Ósvaldsson hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute of the match Þorgils Valdsson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Njáll Skaptason skillfully saved the ball. In the 87th minute, Steinvarður Þorvaldsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Willum Halsson kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Steinvarður Þorvaldsson struck a weak shot in the 100th minute. Krister Mánason didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grundaval.
