The audience thought a goal was coming when Varmar Gunnsteinsson got free with Elmar Kolsson in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 39th minute, Finnlaugur Geirsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 41 minutes, Mikjáll Bogason mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grabovoj FC and the Hnoss Grímsey players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Grabovoj FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Mikjáll Bogason hit a great ball. If Mikjáll Bogason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 48th minute, Varmar Gunnsteinsson made a precise shot to the right of Elmar Kolsson. Grabovoj FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Finnlaugur Geirsson to make the kick off. Elmar Kolsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oddkell Hjálmarsson in the 60th minute of play. Varmar Gunnsteinsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elmar Kolsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Oddkell Hjálmarsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the game, Brynþór Ingmarsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hnoss Grímsey's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grabovoj FC the free kick. Finnlaugur Geirsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Finnlaugur Geirsson fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 77th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Oddkell Hjálmarsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hnoss Grímsey's supporters rose to their feet, but Oddkell Hjálmarsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elmar Kolsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute, Sturlaugur Baldvinsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 89 minutes into the match, Oddkell Hjálmarsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elmar Kolsson. Grabovoj FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Oddkell Hjálmarsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Elmar Kolsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Varmar Gunnsteinsson in the 92nd minute of the match. The Hnoss Grímsey players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
