But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lárentíus Hauksson couldn't finish the play. Allan Júlíusson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Svanberg Hallbjörnsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kristgeir Hlynsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Ómur Reykjavík defense, Allan Júlíusson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Svanberg Hallbjörnsson. The Ómur Reykjavík fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Svanberg Hallbjörnsson should have stopped the shot. Skúta Elmarsson hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Hljómur Nikulásson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lárentíus Hauksson in the 24th minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Methúsalem Ólafsson notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Fákanes Grímsey's Hljómur Nikulásson. Hljómur Nikulásson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Methúsalem Ólafsson fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ómur Reykjavík's protests and gave Methúsalem Ólafsson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Fákanes Grímsey booed when Ómur Reykjavík was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hóseas Sigbertsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Kristgeir Hlynsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fákanes Grímsey's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristgeir Hlynsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Svanberg Hallbjörnsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Methúsalem Ólafsson made the kick off in the second half. Methúsalem Ólafsson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Barri Elmarsson struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Svanberg Hallbjörnsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fákanes Grímsey. Svanberg Hallbjörnsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristgeir Hlynsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The long shot by Urðar Gautsson in the 65th minute really tested Hljómur Nikulásson's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Methúsalem Ólafsson in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hljómur Nikulásson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Lárentíus Hauksson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute Methúsalem Ólafsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hljómur Nikulásson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ómur Reykjavík's zone, Kristgeir Hlynsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Svanberg Hallbjörnsson came out of the goal and Kristgeir Hlynsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 96 minutes into the match, Ómur Reykjavík's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Júlíusson came free, but Svanberg Hallbjörnsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
