After having played for 25 minutes, Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rögn Borgarnesi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kveldúlfur Kristbjörnsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Rögn Borgarnesi booed when Lifrapollur was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garpur Hingsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 36th minute of the match Per Oddbergsson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jenni Arnljótsson skillfully saved the ball. Jenni Arnljótsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hugberg Margeirsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Kveldúlfur Kristbjörnsson made the kick off in the second half. When Ísgeir Aronsson came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Lifrapollur fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ísgeir Aronsson couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Ísgeir Aronsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lifrapollur's supporters rose to their feet, but Ísgeir Aronsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vilmundur Hermansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th minute Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jenni Arnljótsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vilmundur Hermansson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ísgeir Aronsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 86th minute, Kveldúlfur Kristbjörnsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Hugberg Margeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Rögn Borgarnesi supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rögn Borgarnesi would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
