Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson got the match started through his kick off. Þjóðmar Leifsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Hugberg Margeirsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rögn Borgarnesi's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugberg Margeirsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Þjóðmar Leifsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the match, Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Þjóðmar Leifsson. Melavík Garðabæ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Marel Heimisson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th match minute, Rögn Borgarnesi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Unnþór Árbjartsson to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 35 minutes, Gnýr Elmarsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melavík Garðabæ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gnýr Elmarsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rögn Borgarnesi's Vilmundur Hermansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gnýr Elmarsson in the 36th minute of play. Marel Heimisson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vilmundur Hermansson having to make a save. Vilbrandur Árbjartsson hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 40 minutes into the game, Melavík Garðabæ's Marel Heimisson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vilmundur Hermansson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Hugberg Margeirsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Melavík Garðabæ's Óliver Eymundsson got a free kick in the 46th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Sigurnýas Jóngeirsson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 53rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Marel Heimisson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Vilmundur Hermansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Melavík Garðabæ getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Methúsalem Dagbjartsson hit a great ball. After 64 played minutes, Rögn Borgarnesi's Heiðlindur Ingmarsson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Þjóðmar Leifsson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rögn Borgarnesi reached it. The supporters of Melavík Garðabæ booed when Rögn Borgarnesi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per Oddbergsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Melavík Garðabæ's Aríel Guðleifsson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Þjóðmar Leifsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hugberg Margeirsson in the 69th minute. If Marel Heimisson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gnýr Elmarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Vilmundur Hermansson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hugberg Margeirsson got free with Þjóðmar Leifsson in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vilmundur Hermansson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gnýr Elmarsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vilmundur Hermansson came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Melavík Garðabæ's Marel Heimisson. But to his dismay, Marel Heimisson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Melavík Garðabæ's Marel Heimisson got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
