Hlíðberg Björgvinsson acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 7th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Bergsveinn Hinriksson. Otkell Bergsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute, Einir Hreinsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Össur Olgeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eiríkur Granason took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ásþór Hannibalsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson was a little too slow when Bergsveinn Hinriksson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 2-0. Ketilbjörn Pálsson hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Eiríkur Granason showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Engiljón Hallvarðsson in the 37th minute of the match. The supporters of Stöng Flatey booed when Harka Blönduósi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hallgeir Másson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Einir Hreinsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eiríkur Granason read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Otkell Bergsson in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hlíðberg Björgvinsson saved Stöng Flatey from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Otkell Bergsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hlöðvarður Elísson's late challenge caught a Stöng Flatey's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hlöðvarður Elísson helped the player get up and apologised. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Harka Blönduósi! Harka Blönduósi's Hallgeir Másson got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Bergsveinn Hinriksson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bergsveinn Hinriksson in the 72nd minute of play. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Otkell Bergsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ásþór Hannibalsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eiríkur Granason showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Engiljón Hallvarðsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 83rd minute, Múli Margrímsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hallgeir Másson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hlíðberg Björgvinsson having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Harka Blönduósi's goal looked a bit too open when Engiljón Hallvarðsson came free, but Eiríkur Granason reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Harka Blönduósi's goalkeeper Eiríkur Granason had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ásþór Hannibalsson. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Þjóstar Hjartarsson in the 93rd minute of the match. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bergsveinn Hinriksson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Stöng Flatey's zone, Hallgeir Másson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hlíðberg Björgvinsson came out of the goal and Hallgeir Másson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
