The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Saltver Flúðum's Goðmundur Barðason proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Saltver Flúðum from getting a goal against them. Vopni Olgeirsson in the 7thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Goðmundur Barðason, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 10 minutes into the match, Ludvig Guðþórsson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Goðmundur Barðason, 1-0. In the 14th minute of the match, Vopni Olgeirsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Goðmundur Barðason saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 18 minutes into the match, Saltver Flúðum's goalkeeper Goðmundur Barðason had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bjarkar Marvinsson. After some careless play in the Saltver Flúðum defense, Vopni Olgeirsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Goðmundur Barðason. The Saltver Flúðum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Goðmundur Barðason should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vopni Olgeirsson in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Goðmundur Barðason saved Saltver Flúðum from getting behind. Goðmundur Barðason stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vopni Olgeirsson's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute, Ludvig Guðþórsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Máni Garði fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Végeir Kjartansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hrafn Snæsson in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match Saltver Flúðum got a corner. Máni Garði's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Varmar Reynaldsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Vopni Olgeirsson took a quick shot and it went in 5-0 without a chance for Goðmundur Barðason to make any attempt to save it. Vopni Olgeirsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Goðmundur Barðason made a huge save. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vopni Olgeirsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Goðmundur Barðason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vopni Olgeirsson in the 51st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Vopni Olgeirsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Goðmundur Barðason was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. The Máni Garði fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Máni Garði's Vopni Olgeirsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Goðmundur Barðason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vopni Olgeirsson in the 94th minute of play. Máni Garði walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
