With his leg Snjólfur Bjarmarsson managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Garðabæ's Tumi Gissurarson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 12 minutes, Hallgrímur Ákason mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Antik Flatey and the Garðabæ players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tumi Gissurarson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 19 minutes of play, Antik Flatey's Úlfgeir Hallvarðsson made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Úlfgeir Hallvarðsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Antik Flatey's supporters rose to their feet, but Úlfgeir Hallvarðsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sváfnir Játvarðarson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Garðabæ's goalkeeper Sváfnir Játvarðarson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Garðabæ's Kristján Styrmisson got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Kristján Styrmisson came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Garðabæ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristján Styrmisson couldn't finish the play. In the 45th minute Úlfgeir Hallvarðsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sváfnir Játvarðarson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tumi Gissurarson, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valbergur Hafþórsson to make the kick off. If Kristján Styrmisson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th match minute, Antik Flatey was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hallgrímur Ákason to maneuver through the defense. Tumi Gissurarson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hallgrímur Ákason got his second yellow card in the match during the 60th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 61 played minutes Antik Flatey got a freekick which was hit by Hallgrímur Ákason. If Kristján Styrmisson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Tumi Gissurarson notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Antik Flatey's Snjólfur Bjarmarsson. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ölvir Hinriksson kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Tumi Gissurarson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristján Styrmisson in the 80th minute of play forced Antik Flatey's goalkeeper Snjólfur Bjarmarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tumi Gissurarson in the 81st minute of the match. Tumi Gissurarson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 84th minute, Valbergur Hafþórsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Snjólfur Bjarmarsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tumi Gissurarson in the 94th minute of the match. 97 minutes into the match, Tumi Gissurarson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Snjólfur Bjarmarsson. Antik Flatey's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tumi Gissurarson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. There was no doubt that Garðabæ were the better team. Garðabæ's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
