Rubinho Salgado started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Abraham Reyrsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Kaprasíus Randversson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Kaprasíus Randversson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mjölnir Vilmarsson in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Rubinho Salgado left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Akranes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The supporters of Akranes booed when Njarðvík Vopnafirði was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gýgjar Margeirsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaprasíus Randversson came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Akranes's Abraham Reyrsson. But to his dismay, Abraham Reyrsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 25 minutes into the match, Akranes's goalkeeper Jean Viana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Játgeir Vignisson. In the 25th minute, Játgeir Vignisson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jean Viana. The goal made the score 1-3. 30 minutes into the match, Mjölnir Vilmarsson notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Njarðvík Vopnafirði's Kaprasíus Randversson. Kaprasíus Randversson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kaprasíus Randversson came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Akranes's Mjölnir Vilmarsson. But to his dismay, Mjölnir Vilmarsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Njarðvík Vopnafirði's Kaprasíus Randversson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubinho Salgado in the 38th minute of play. After having played for 38 minutes, Hulki Okyanus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Akranes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hulki Okyanus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kaprasíus Randversson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubinho Salgado in the 40th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, Njarðvík Vopnafirði was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginbaldur Kristbergsson to maneuver through the defense. Kaprasíus Randversson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rubinho Salgado's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. After the first half Akranes were leading 1-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Svanur Oddbergsson made a kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Gýgjar Margeirsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Njarðvík Vopnafirði's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Akranes the free kick. After 50 played minutes Njarðvík Vopnafirði got a freekick which was hit by Gýgjar Margeirsson. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Bjarnlaugur Kalmannsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Akranes's supporters rose to their feet, but Bjarnlaugur Kalmannsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaprasíus Randversson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Rubinho Salgado took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Kaprasíus Randversson to make any attempt to save it. 64 minutes into the game, Hulki Okyanus was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Akranes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Njarðvík Vopnafirði the free kick. After 65 played minutes Akranes got a freekick which was hit by Hulki Okyanus. Hörður Hallgrímsson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jean Viana. Akranes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 68th minute of the match, Mjölnir Vilmarsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kaprasíus Randversson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 69th minute Rubinho Salgado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaprasíus Randversson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kaprasíus Randversson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hulki Okyanus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Rubinho Salgado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kaprasíus Randversson was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. A collision led to Njarðvík Vopnafirði getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Gýgjar Margeirsson hit a great ball. Kaprasíus Randversson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubinho Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Njarðvík Vopnafirði's Halldór Kristófersson got a free kick in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mjölnir Vilmarsson in the 86th minute of play forced Njarðvík Vopnafirði's goalkeeper Kaprasíus Randversson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Akranes's Hulki Okyanus slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kaprasíus Randversson. That made the score 1-7 after 88 minutes of play. 95 minutes into the match, Njarðvík Vopnafirði's goalkeeper Kaprasíus Randversson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hulki Okyanus.
