Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mjölnir Vilmarsson in the 14th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Akranes's Szymon Milko got a free kick in the 14th minute. A collision led to Task Mývatni getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Erling Laufarsson hit a great ball. The long shot by Bjarnlaugur Kalmannsson in the 19th minute really tested Arnúlfur Níelsson's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Arnúlfur Níelsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mjölnir Vilmarsson in the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Hulki Okyanus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnúlfur Níelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jean Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Jean Viana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 27th minute of the match. With a little luck, Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson got control of the ball when Abraham Reyrsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 31 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Akranes! After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Auðbergur Gretarsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Arnúlfur Níelsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hulki Okyanus in the 52nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abraham Reyrsson in the 53rd minute of play forced Task Mývatni's goalkeeper Arnúlfur Níelsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mjölnir Vilmarsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnúlfur Níelsson having to make a save. 64 minutes into the match, Task Mývatni's goal looked a bit too open when Rubinho Salgado came free, but Arnúlfur Níelsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Task Mývatni got a freekick which was hit by Erling Laufarsson. In the 66thth minute of the game Rubinho Salgado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arnúlfur Níelsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubinho Salgado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Auðbergur Gretarsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Akranes's Jean Viana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 71st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Akranes's zone, Walter Snæbjörnsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean Viana came out of the goal and Walter Snæbjörnsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubinho Salgado in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnúlfur Níelsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arnúlfur Níelsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rubinho Salgado in the 77th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Akranes's zone, Auðbergur Gretarsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean Viana came out of the goal and Auðbergur Gretarsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 83 minutes into the match, Mjölnir Vilmarsson notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson. Arnúlfur Níelsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Task Mývatni defense, Rubinho Salgado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnúlfur Níelsson. The Task Mývatni fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnúlfur Níelsson should have stopped the shot. In the 93rd minute, Rubinho Salgado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnúlfur Níelsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Task Mývatni players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Akranes.
