Veselin Kolundžija could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Vlajko Blaževski made a huge save. Borivoj Topčagić fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Živko Vasić having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Vlajko Blaževski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Veselin Kolundžija, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Veselin Kolundžija sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 75 minutes, Slaviša Đalov made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Kotraža's Vlajko Blaževski tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Novi Beograd's Živko Vasić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ognjen Tršić in the 92nd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Novi Beograd fans cheered their team off the field, for while Kotraža had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
