With a couple of smart ball manuevers Damir Kanja in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tugomir Prolić saved Savino Selo FK from getting behind. Mihailo Kopitović hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Gornja Toponica's Murat Tarabić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Novak Lalić in the 7th minute of play. After 10 minutes, Damir Kanja made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Savino Selo FK's Tugomir Prolić tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 13th minute, Stefan Vučić made a precise shot to the right of Tugomir Prolić. Savino Selo FK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 21 played minutes Savino Selo FK got a freekick which was hit by Dragan Kekezović. A collision led to Savino Selo FK getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Dimitrije Gudelj hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bogoboj Grnčarski got free with Murat Tarabić in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute, Đorđe Beljović hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 38 minutes, Novak Lalić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Savino Selo FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Novak Lalić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Novak Lalić's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murat Tarabić read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Novak Lalić in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Murat Tarabić prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 47th match minute, Gornja Toponica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Čedomir Vujinović to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When Staniša Novičić fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Savino Selo FK's protests and gave Staniša Novičić a yellow card for diving instead. If Novak Lalić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tugomir Prolić showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Đorđe Beljović in the 79th minute of the match. In the 81st minute of the match, Stefan Vučić tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tugomir Prolić saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Tugomir Prolić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stefan Vučić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Gornja Toponica supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Gornja Toponica would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
