Vladislav Preljević fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Koča Zlatanović having to interfere. Milojko Jovandić hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After 12 played minutes Kovin got a freekick which was hit by Momir Ražnatović. Velizar Brajušković hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. The supporters of Gornji Stupanj OFK booed when Kovin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stanimir Jablanićević didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rastislav Milijanović stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Borislav Negovanović's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Bogdan Srnić put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Rastislav Milijanović. Koča Zlatanović made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vekoslav Markus in the 45th minute. After the first half Gornji Stupanj OFK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Vladislav Preljević was the one to do the kick off. Vekoslav Markus struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Koča Zlatanović didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kovin. Justin Vuletić was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 59 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 59th minute of the game. One of Kovin:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gornji Stupanj OFK:s goal. The goalkeeper, Rastislav Milijanović, was totally fooled by Gornji Stupanj OFK's Aleksandar Ćirković, who 61 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Rastislav Milijanović made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Bogdan Srnić sent off a good shot on target. In the 97th minute, Sima Stolevski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 99th minute Aleksandar Ćirković managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gornji Stupanj OFK eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
