When Velisav Maraš fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FTC Ferencváros's protests and gave Velisav Maraš a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of New Ash Green United booed when FTC Ferencváros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Velisav Maraš didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ratko Savković made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milivoj Dragović in the 21st minute of play. Milivoj Dragović's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ratko Savković read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. When Blažo Georgijev came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the New Ash Green United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blažo Georgijev couldn't finish the play. After 25 played minutes FTC Ferencváros got a freekick which was hit by Puniša Nesterović. If Milivoj Dragović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ratko Savković took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Milivoj Dragović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ratko Savković made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blažo Georgijev in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 34 minutes, Milun Mujević managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FTC Ferencváros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Milun Mujević was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 35 played minutes New Ash Green United got a freekick which was hit by Jugoslav Mirosavljević. Thanks to some nice moves Milun Mujević could shoot a difficult shot in the 36th minute, which Branimir Lerinc however easily saved by the left post. Branimir Lerinc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sveto Mrvaljević in the 40th minute of the match. In the 42nd minute of the match, Sveto Mrvaljević tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Branimir Lerinc saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. During the 43rd minute of the match Dmitar Prentić completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Dmitar Prentić a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Dmitar Prentić kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. When Milivoj Dragović came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the New Ash Green United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Milivoj Dragović couldn't finish the play. After 46 played minutes FTC Ferencváros got a freekick which was hit by Sveto Mrvaljević. Milivoj Dragović struck a weak shot in the 49th minute. Ratko Savković didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New Ash Green United. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Milun Mujević made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Puniša Nesterović during the 54th minute.
