Smajo Pešikan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bojan Cvjetinović having to interfere.

Bojan Cvjetinović showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vojimir Kisić, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in AC Milan's zone, Smajo Pešikan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bojan Cvjetinović came out of the goal and Smajo Pešikan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Stoke-on-Trent's Vojimir Kisić in the 55th minute got a chance for a shot 55th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After a rather tough play, Stoke-on-Trent's Smajo Pešikan got a free kick in the 61st minute. 64 minutes into the match, Vojimir Kisić had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bojan Cvjetinović. AC Milan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vojimir Kisić was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vojimir Kisić couldn't finish the play. Stoke-on-Trent were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
